Future Skills Institute (FSI) is a job and career center for young adults
between the ages of 16 and 24. Through one-on-one career counseling,
work-readiness and skill-building workshops and job search help, FSI helps
young people develop their capacity to succeed in the workplace and plan
for their futures.
Specific FSI job-readiness services include assistance with résumé writing,
interviewing skills, networking techniques, and understanding workplace
etiquette. We provide training in problem-solving, interpersonal communication,
time management, and Microsoft digital literacy.
FSI Career Specialists also work with clients to assess job aptitude and
interests, help identify educational or vocational training opportunities,
facilitate internships, and provide on-the-job support. All
FSI services are free to
young adults.

Success Story
Aaron, 19 years old, provides one example of the kind of impact FSI has had
on the lives of many of its young clients:
“When I first came to the Future Skills Institute my life was unmanageable
due to my drug addiction. I had the right mindset but no willingness to
better myself and I hated myself for my wrong actions. At that point in my
life I needed as much guidance as possible to keep me motivated and away
from my addiction. The first day I came to Future Skills Institute I was
greeted with open arms and I knew from that day I was going to be there
every day and turn my life around because the staff told me ‘It's not what
you did yesterday, it’s what you do from now on that's going to change your
life.’
"FSI helped me obtain a job, become a peer mentor, and apply for financial
aid for college. This fall I started attending Mass Bay Community College.
Without FSI and everybody at the Tempo Center, I do not know where I would
be and I give all my thanks to all the staff that has helped me since day
one.”
